Wildflowers

Carrizo National Monument, California

Winter rain feeds the

thirsty, parched soil.

Spring ushers in,

the favorable sunny weather,

and California turns into

a floral paradise,

super-bloom sometimes.

Mustard, poppy, lupine,

blue dicks, fuchsia, paintbrush,

and so much more,

make the landscapes into

stunning, colorful quilts.

One spring, we visited

Carrizo National Monument,

famous for California gold fields —

a sea of yellow

on the meadows,

by the alkaline lake

on the Temblor Range.

It was breathtaking,

as I stood there,

watching the plants sway

creating golden waves.

The flowers certainly know

to put spectacular show!

They bloom, delight

help create memories sweet,

and shrivel, to wake appear,

again the following year.

Wildflowers are my favorite flowers and so easy to grow. Good job.
