Didn’t sign up for battle
Never for a war
Yet here I stand wide open
Bullets flying through the doors
Stripped of any armor
Bare naked for the fight
Determined to win the conflict
It’s taking all our might
Wanted to make a difference
Saving others lives
Defeated by the enemy
In an unjustly fight
Tired and exhausted
Armor on each day
Wont surrender battle
Until we find a way
Some say it isn’t real
For some it’s just a fraud
They’re not here on the field
Fighting for the cause
You’ll never see our pain
Remain strong in your sight
When we’re all alone
The damn breaks deep inside
I’m sorry that we failed you
To those for whom we’ve lost
I know not much assurance in
We fought at every cost
Never should’ve been this way
Dying all alone
An oath I vowed to save you
Ripped straight from my soul
As with any war
Our own not left behind
I promise to stand by you
Your arms wrapped up in mine
The words I write are simple
I long could bring you back
To loving arms of your family
Who never had the chance
