Why Not Let Freedom Ring?

A poem by me for me

By Ur GirlPublished 4 years ago 1 min read

I’m not for everyone, that’s finally clear to me. I’m my biggest fan, my greatest desire, and my upper hand.

I have struggled all my life to hold my self-esteem, I still struggle everyday just to be free.

Life is like a box of chocolates; Forest Gump was right. One minute I’m up, the next minute I’m down. I’m constantly adjusting my crown.

I’ve tried for so long to remind myself that I’m a queen, clothed in grace and mercy. Is freedom really a thing?

Bound to bills, living expenses and earthly things. I’m still waiting to hear the sound of freedoms ring.

Moving past the negativity, disrespect and uncertainty. Looking forward to a better future, loving life and a family with little strife.

I’m taking it day by day, not rushing living in faith. Trusting in my Heavenly Fathers way.

Tonight, I stand on His promises to never leave me, nor forsake me. Now I’m safe, wrapped in his arms. Not wasted away.
