Why Early Birds Catch the Worms
The fight for survival

Why Early Birds Catch the Worms
Because they wake when the dark still breathes.
Because the world is quiet,
and nothing asks too much.
Because sleep is a luxury
they can’t afford to touch.
Because the night left questions
no one stayed to hear.
Because hunger doesn’t care
if the sky is clear.
Because waiting gets you nothing.
Because dreaming doesn’t feed.
Because someone else is always moving
faster than your need.
Because soft things rise early
or not at all.
Because silence is a teacher.
Because pride comes small.
Because they learned to take
before it’s taken from them.
Because the ground is cold
and luck is a stem
thin as a thread
between dirt and sky.
Because they can’t afford to wonder why.

I've been writing poetry since the age of fourteen. With pen in hand, I wander through realms unseen. The pen holds power; ink reveals hidden thoughts. A poet may speak truth or weave a tale. You decide. Let pen and ink capture your mind❤️
