Why Do You Take Forever to Text Back?
A Playful Ode to Slow Replies and Endless Love

Oh dearest love, so dear, so sweet,
Why do your texts have slow, cold feet?
I send a message—hours pass,
Yet you reply at snail-like gas.
_ _ _ _
Is your phone lost in the abyss?
Or are my texts just hit-or-miss?
Do my words not spark delight?
Or do you just forget outright?
_ _ _ _
Perhaps you’ve joined a texting cult,
Where fast replies bring harsh results.
Or maybe, love, you’ve found a way,
To time-travel and just… delay.
_ _ _ _
I see you posting, laughing too,
Liking memes at half-past two.
Yet my “hello” from yesternight,
Still sits unread—what a sight!
_ _ _ _
Oh love, oh joy, my patient heart,
Knows texting’s just a tiny part.
For when you’re here, when we’re aligned,
I see your love is not confined.
_ _ _ _
So take your time, ignore my pleas,
I'll wait—though not so patiently.
Just know one day, if roles reverse,
You’ll feel the pain (but just much worse).

I hate when this happens. Because then I start double texting. Excellent poem.
