Why Can I Not Feel a Thing?
A Poem about Feeling Numb
By Rene PetersPublished 4 years ago • 1 min read

Why can I not feel a thing?
I seem so numb,
It seems as though I can't sing.
I wonder, "Do I look glum?"
Why can I not feel a thing?
Consumed by numbness I remain.
Do I admit how I'm feeling?
I shouldn't, it's just in my brain.
Why can I not feel a thing?
I like the numbness.
To me, it is healing.
Gone is the glumness.
Why can I not feel a thing?
Who knows,
It is now naturally occurring.
This feeling in me was not chose.
Why can I not feel a thing?
I now know the numbness is lingering.
Forever and ever, 'til death do us part.
It seems as though it's part of my heart.
