Why?

A Poem I wrote a few years ago now......

Why is it that we see the worst in all that people do?

We slag them off, we tear them down a peg or two

As if we’re right and never wrong it really makes me laugh

It’s like we never see we have a nasty half

Why can’t we realise that words can destroy as well as build?

If we could be more positive this would be a different world

A long look in the mirror would reveal for all to see

The good and bad in everyone therefore more honesty

To realise that no one is perfect that all of us have flaws

Would make us more compassionate and break down peoples walls.

To forgive, forget and move on surely that is best

To take the higher moral ground regardless of the rest

To know that although we’re flawed we can be something great

To show our love and help others may just change their fate

I’m not saying I have this right…You see I’m not perfect either

But I grew up with this quote given to me by my Mother

Stand tall put your shoulders straight, lift up your chin,

Push your chest out and on your face a grin

Do to others as they do to you but with grace and virtue

So when they try to put you down their words will never hurt you.
