Who Will Get Up First For Our Pup?

The Morning Standoff

It’s 5:30am,

The dog is whining again.

Who will get up first?

If I lay real still,

Which I have developed this award winning skill,

My husband will begin to wake,

because I know his soft snores are no fake.

Whimper,

Whimper,

High-pitched whimper,

Come on, come on,

Wake up,

And take care of our pup,

Our little furry girl must have to pee,

She needs to taken to the yard and run free,

I know ,

You must be awake now,

No way could anyone sleep,

Though this howling whine.

A stir,

A leg twitch,

I know, that you know

That I know,

We are waiting each other out.

You are closer to the crate,

My husband states.

Yes, I know, but Lady loves you the most.

I state.

And I am a sucker for you too.

My husband states.

He gets out of the bed and let’s her out.

That’s 28 years of marriage.

  • So cute & sweet… when my dog barks in the night, I tell myself “4 more barks and I will whistle him…” then after 4 more barks, I repeat the cycle a few more times until I have to act! Thankfully he’s getting old & deaf, so it’s less common now.🥹
