Falling, falling down beyond Carol's land of wonder

I see the world, one familiar and morphed by streams of memory

Subconscious signs awake inside what seems so distant

Will I ever know?

Those I know seem different

Their eyes meld with scenes of unified grace

Though, these are not the ones from the world of the awake

Are they what they show?

A journey forward, they say

To where it seems unnamed

Stuck inside an endless maze,

And now I'll never know

Before arriving at a home

Hidden behind a wooden door

Crouched in silence

What will the creature find?

My breath, slow matched harmoniously with the beating heart

It approached without a second glance behind it

Now my chance to make my escape

Toward the place before.

Down the stairs, I ran away

Never look behind again

Through the window, shattered away

and now I am awake.
