When I say, “Who is man,” I mean it as a statement, not a question.
Man, while he has his qualities, ultimately, by women, has been given too much power and authority in the sense that value, achievement, milestones, happiness, fulfillment are hinged on man, but who is man.
I am woman, and everything is in me, Divinely imparted to me before birth. All man can do is withhold marriage from me, nothing more, nothing less. And while man has succeeded in placing marriage on a pedestal, forcing women to climb for their affection, the Divine truth is, at the end of the day, a woman can live a life fully fulfilled without marriage - Now, the patriarchy might send for me to burn me at the stakes for this next sentence, but absent of man’s affection and touch, absent of man’s attention and conversation, absent of man’s company - there is still so much life to be lived and experienced.
That last line has my sister with a smirk, bidding me to be careful, but how could I ever tread lightly? Descendants of dehumanized women, regarded as witches, temptresses, and blood magic hoodoo voodoo priestesses, it runs in the blood to breathe in beauty and exhale fire.
I declare haughtily, short of killing me, man cannot stop me on my pursuit of joy.
Assault me in any way, I’ll heal.
Break me down, I’ll rebuild.
Hold me hostage, I’ll find a way of escape.
Shackle me, I’ll break them with brute force.
… Because who is man.
