White Roses and The Distance Between Us.

The reflection always shows the truth...always.

The sun rises, releasing unknown colors.

They shoot across the skies,

kissing the morning air.

Yet with this beauty to behold,

Your head still hangs low?

_

I look from just beside you,

it's as if you walk with your eyes closed.

Why can't you see the colors?

To you, the world is black and white,

no room even for yourself.

Your expression fades and turns numb,

Is this true, or am I out of place?

_

I'll guide you to the lakeside,

surely you will see the beauty there.

Your hands turn cold,

even within the warmth of my touch.

Do you still know that you're loved?

_

We walk along the sandy path,

the dust covers your trail beside me.

Along the path, your feet gently stride,

but still you remain quiet...why?

" I want you to know that I love you."

Silence.

_

Your hand pulls away as we reach the shore.

The sun settles on the surface of the water,

gentle but blinding.

I look into the water, but you are not there.

My heart hardens to stone.

" Please say something,

don't you know that I am here for you?"

If only I had said that before.

My hand feels heavy as I near the reflection,

leaving behind a soft, white rose...your favorite.

_

I aligned my footsteps with her last-

this is the only place she remains.
