White Noise

Brooklyn Habitat

By Marcela Published 3 years ago 1 min read

The birds announce the morning, followed by the radiator bubbling awake.

Shuffling under the sheets to protect my skin from the cold I plan a ten minute delay,

But my alarm roars and vibrates, per usual it is late,

I head to the bathroom as I hear my neighbor beat me to the first hot shower of the day.

I flush the toilet and run the sink to wash my face,

Then my footsteps creak the wooden floors as I prepare my breakfast with haste.

The kettle sings, the podcast chimes in, and the rumbling F train is the drums and the bass.

The familiar tune of my morning underway, a dream of a silent morning slips away.
