Whispers of December

December drapes the earth in frosty veils,

Each breath a whisper, a softly spun tale.

The snow dances lightly, in pirouettes divine,

Weaving fragments of warmth from more gilded times.

Beside the hearth, where embers softly glow,

Their fragrant whispers weave through the stillness flow.

Sweet laughter rises, a melody of yore,

As shadows stretch forth to greet those we adore.

A child spins joyfully, flour swirling in the air,

While a mother cradles her cookies with tender care.

An elder hums softly, a tune from days long past,

A fleeting hymn of love, its echoes are steadfast.

The feast unfolds—a bounty rich with cheer,

Uniting kindred spirits as midnight draws near.

And as goblets glint and rise with heartfelt glee,

Our hearts remain anchored by the love that we see.

O time, elusive tide, why must you race,

Stealing our moments, what we yearn to embrace?

Yet in the fire’s glow, your grasp begins to pale;

Memory’s embers shimmer beyond your frail trail.

So let our hands, though winter's breath be chill,

Find warmth in shared laughter, defying time’s will.

For though December’s night grows long and deep,

The dawn of love eternal awakens from sleep.

Under the glow of Christmases long past,
