Whispers In The Dark

A quiet reckoning.

By Cathy (Christine Acheini) Ben-Ameh.Published 9 months ago 1 min read

They thought the silence would be my end,
That time would wear me down, my strength to bend.
But in the quiet, something grew,
A strength they couldn’t see, they never knew.

I’ve walked through shadows, unseen, unknown,
With every step, a seed had been sown.
And now, the light is soft but sure,
A quiet bloom, steady and pure.

They watch me now, from distant view,
A growing stillness, too hard to subdue.
The weight of their laughter, their subtle snare,
Has turned to air, now thin and rare.

And as I rise, so faint, so slow,
They wonder, somewhere, if they’ll ever know—
What cost, what thread, was left undone,
And who will come to claim what's won.
