Where the sunsets

A poem about CPTSD

By Bixi HernandezPublished 4 months ago 1 min read
Dear little Bixi, you're safe now.

Why are the memories so haunting?

Still daunting?

All I ever wanted was a safe space

A safe place

I breathe in and out

Wipe my own tears and with joy I'll shout

"I survived the deadly survival games"

even if I barely survived their flames

There was never anyone to protect little me

But look who I grew up to be

I swore and I vowed

and to my vow I'm bound

Never to be

like those who hurt me

I've created my safe space

I've found my safe place

Somewhere where the sunsets
