Where the Silence Knows Your Name

A Ghazal of Loss, Dust and Lingering Light

By heasb002Published 9 months ago 1 min read

This ghazal is a quiet meditation on the haunting nature of love’s absence. The poet is suspended in a world where the beloved is long gone, and yet, everything still trembles with the echo of their presence. Through broken mirrors, scattered dust, and unsaid words, the poem evokes a deep, still grief that lingers like a shadow.

Since your gaze has gone, I’ve fallen into night—

My heart became yours, lost without light.

No trace, no echo of your passing remains,

Only a restless dust, scattered through pain.

In the mirror, I see a stranger’s face,

I’ve broken—my heart lingers in your distant place.

The whole city wandered in search of your trace,

But I still sit here, haunted by your grace.

And all whom I tried to tell of your flame,

Whispered: hush... your sorrow speaks softer without name.
