Where the Rainbow Ends
What Will You Find?

At the end,
When the door shuts tight,
And the curtains are pulled close,
And everyone is gone,
I am left
Completely alone,
With the blanket of silence
And the echoing
Emptiness
That rushes inward,
To fill the gap left by friends,
To take the place of
Manic joy.
After the party,
I will pick up the pieces
And return to life,
To real life,
Where I wake up, work,
And then eat, and play, and sleep,
And rinse and repeat.
It’s boring,
But it isn’t bad;
It’s still a life filled with love,
And I wouldn’t change
Anything.
Turns out there’s no gold
At the end of the rainbow;
It’s still the same world.
And I'm glad.
