My eyes have seen the allure of
Green and gold.
And the wonders it could do.
And well my parents tried they’re best
I’ve never much know what to do.
The hole in my pocket has always been deep
For I seldom stop and think.
And now as I have aged,
Books and coffees are paired with
Bills and pain.
I roll in greens that are not my own
To try and find a place to call home.
To buy the right foods to fill my body
And pay for the modes of transportation
And parties.
Some days I look at all the negative gold
And wonder if I shall ever grow old
And if I could go back.
Where was that first place I snapped.
And if I go forward
Where do I go on
For not in galas, eating cake.
But staring at a negative state,
And already exhausted after 40 hours.
