When Yonder Came
Friend or Foe

Greetings friends and welcome, but we’re curious to know
We need to understand if you’re a friend or you’re a foe
But first let us extend to you our hospitality
Does anyone among you need a private place to pee
You’ve likely come from far away, the universe is vast
The bathroom’s over there if you don’t think you’re gonna last
If friendly we will show you first, the children that we spawn
They represent the future that our world’s depending on
We’d like to also show you all the progress that we’ve made
We’ll even show our missteps and the price we often paid
No matter our advancements, it’s our pleasure to discuss
Though clearly yours are adequate, you came to visit us
Now if we sense deception, if you have another plan
We’re all that we can be when we protect our fellow man
But if you came in peace and want a specimen to probe
There’s a North Korean leader on the back side of our globe
Yet if you came to battle and you’d rather not be friends
We hope that you enjoyed your trip since this is where it ends
We pray you didn’t travel here with criminal intent
If that’s the case please tell us where you want your bodies sent
We humans go to war a lot, that’s sadly what we do
But all the earth would bond together just to battle you
So friend or foe, we need to know, before we can proceed
If you’re peaceful, we’re the only friend your race will ever need
