When We Were Young

By Julie O'Hara - Author, Poet and Spiritual WarriorPublished 9 days ago 1 min read

**Verse 1**

When we were young, we danced in the light,

Chasing our dreams, everything felt so right.

But time moves on, like shadows at dusk,

And the laughter fades, leaves an aching hush.

**Chorus**

Oh, the older I get, the more I can see,

The hero I am, but what’s left of me?

Lonely roads stretch, while I search for a sign,

Oh, I need a love that feels like a lifeline.

**Verse 2**

I wore my cape, proud and so bold,

Fighting my battles, strong but alone.

But each victory’s sweet, carries a cost,

In winning the world, I feel so lost.

**Chorus**

Oh, the older I get, the more I can see,

The hero I am, but what’s left of me?

Lonely roads stretch, while I search for a sign,

Oh, I need a love that feels like a lifeline.

**Verse 3**

So I’ll lower my guard, drop the mask I wear,

Show the soft side, let them glimpse my despair.

‘Cause beneath all the glory, behind every fight,

Is a heart that just wants to be held tight.

**Chorus**

Oh, the older I get, the more I can see,

The hero I am, but what’s left of me?

Lonely roads stretch, while I search for a sign,

Oh, I need a love that feels like a lifeline.

Oh, the older I get, the more I can see,
