When We Were Little People

Gone But Never Forgotten

By NORA YUENPublished 5 years ago 1 min read

Remember those days when we were little people.

Before we grew up and moved apart.

We were each other’s most favorite company.

We ran around in the fields with no care.

We laid in the grass looking at the clouds in the day.

We laid in the grass looking at the stars at night.

We watched stormy nights with glee.

With eyes, wide open with wonder.

We looked at each other after seeing flashes of lighting.

Giggling with joy as we counted together for the sound of thunder.

You taught me not to cry when I hurt myself.

And I learned that lesson well.

I am tough as nails.

But I cry tonight with my heart broken into a million pieces.

Because I heard you are no longer with us.

You are now one of the shooting stars we made wishes upon,

When we were little people.
