Twenty years ago, a new responsibility

That surreal moment

When everything changed

You opened your eyes

In my arms

Future thoughts flashed

Of years yet unwritten

They overwhelm

Unless taken day by day

Surrounded by beeps

Please leave us in peace

This moment

Comes once in a lifetime

Tiny and vulnerable

Dependent on us

Don’t worry

We’ll be here for you

Tomorrow can wait

Let us enjoy now

For the decades will pass

In a blur
