When Trying Isn’t Enough

It’s all effort in vain that hurts the mind and heart

When Trying Isn’t Enough

What do I do when my best is not enough,

When every effort lands short of the mark.

I stand there holding what is left of hope,

Wondering when the light began to darken.

I gave my hours, my heart, my quiet strength,

I showed up even when it hurt to stand.

There are no medals for the nights I broke,

Only the truth I did the best I can.

The world keeps moving, careless and unchanged,

It does not pause to measure what I gave.

Success is loud, while effort stays unseen,

And failure whispers lies I start to believe.

There comes a moment, heavy in my chest,

Where courage feels like knowing when to stop.

Maybe I throw in the towel and say I tried,

Not as defeat, but truth laid on the rock.

I really did try, I gave it all I had,

Every word placed with care and quiet pride.

Deeply lived inside of me, Things Vocal just cannot see.

They just don’t see what my followers see.
