When the Wounds are Beautiful

Scars are the paths to recovery

My mirror is changing, the reflections are different.

I see someone else looking back.

*

She’s been gone for awhile,

something else took her place.

I was wondering where she was at.

*

She’s a little worn for the wear,

but her smile is the same.

I can tell that she has the same heart.

*

It’s a bit tattered too,

it’s sure has seen better days.

It’s stitched up, but it’s not torn apart.

*

She is tired,

but she’s strong.

And I don’t have a doubt;

*

Soon, things are gonna change around here.

She’s on a mission to right all the wrongs.

You were wrong for counting her out

*

Better watch what you say,

better look where you step.

She’s kicking asses and taking down names.

*

If you’re the one of the ones that were taking your shots,

be aware she already knows who you are.

And she’s coming to show you how pain makes you strong, and she is proud of her battle-scars.
