When Silence Speaks

Sometimes the loudest truths are whispered between the pauses.

By MUHAMMAD BILALPublished 5 months ago 1 min read
"Silence holds the words our hearts are too fragile to speak."

When Silence Speaks

Silence is not empty,

it is a canvas—

painted with every word

we were too afraid to say.

It hums in the space

between two heartbeats,

in the pause before a name

falls heavy on the tongue.

I have heard silence

carry more weight than thunder,

have felt it press against my chest

like a storm unbroken.

It keeps company with shadows,

hides itself in half-closed doors,

lingers in the crack of a photograph frame

where smiles are frozen,

but eyes tell the truth.

Silence remembers.

It tucks away

the tremor in your voice,

the way your hand hesitated

before reaching for mine.

And yet—

silence can be gentle too.

It can rest like a blanket,

wrap itself around a weary soul,

offer peace where words

would only wound.

So I have learned

not to fear the quiet.

For sometimes,

it speaks more honestly

than we ever could.
