When Ravens Hunt in the Dark.

Beware. An omen awakens.

By Antoni De'LeonPublished 2 months ago Updated 2 months ago 2 min read

Ravens do not - as a typical occurrence - hunt at night; they are diurnal birds that forage by day - congregate and communally roosts after sunset.

Only if disturbed, do they fly by night - if emergencies occur - not adapted for hunting in total darkness - they rely on roosting for rest

Diurnal foraging: Ravens hunt and feed in the morning and afternoon.

Night roosting: They gather in large groups at night to rest - flying to nest at dusk.

Ravens normally have limited night activity

Not for hunting purposes...their vision not suited for the night.

YET...

It is Midnight. A parliament of ravens sit perched atop a gothic cathedral...Their obsidian feathers glowing darkly - shimmering in the moonlight

As if they hunt the world in the moonless mist of night

The air is thick with an eerie mist...It is as a dark fantasy -Brom and Dave McKean's intricate details and dramatic lighting evokes a sense of mystery and foreboding.

Has Brom awakened a dark fantasy of devils who now come hunting our souls - has his striking, gothic, and horror-infused artwork of demons, monsters, and grotesque creatures finally awakened.

Have his celebrated works of intricate details, emphasis on texture and shading - that ability to evoke intense dark emotions, summoned the dwellers of dark places

When ravens hunt at night, they do not cry , no caw, no shriek, just silence split by feathered ink against the sky, a whisper where the shadows sit.

They do not chase, they do not plead, but circle dreams that once took root - of ancient need, a lull of bone, of ash, of fruit.

Their eyes are lanterns, cold and deep, that see the seams in time’s disguise - they pluck the secrets mortals keep and chew them into pulp.

They do not kill, they unmake - they peel souls from granite stones, they drink the dusk, they bend the ache of haunted hearts and hollowed homes.

Mckean's Art

So if you hear no sound tonight,

no rustle, cry, or winged descent -

beware the silence, the velvet bite

of truths that never asked consent.

......

The world has entered a dark moon phase

Beware...The wolves are baying...the ravens are circling.

You have quite the horror/thriller and even a psychological story here. Good job.
