When Physical Therapy Morphs Into a Torture Chamber
Binging on Too Many Vincent Price Horror Flicks
I ACTUALLY DON'T WATCH GORY HORROR MOVIES MUCH ANYMORE, BUT MY MOM INTRODUCED ME TO THE WORKS OF EDGAR ALLAN POE AS A PRETEEN AND I BECAME A HUGE FAN AT THE TIME. ALSO, MY UNCLE MET VINCENT PRICE AT YALE AND SAID HE WAS QUITE A GENTLEMAN. I WAS WATCHING A BUNCH OF PRICE'S FILMS RECENTLY, SO, WHEN SOME POOR YOUNG LADY NEXT TO ME AT PHYSICAL THERAPY WAS STRUGGLING THROUGH HER ROUTINE, MY TWISTED MIND IMMEDIATELY TRANSFORMED THE BRIGHT THERAPY ROOM INTO A SCENE FROM THE "PIT AND THE PENDULUM MOVIE." AGAIN, AN ATTEMPT AT HUMOR IN A SERIES OF LIMERICKS (not at all belittling the pain and hard work of her recovery)....
Bright sunlight filled the therapy room,
No trace of impending doom.
They taught me adaptions
With a few contraptions,
But binging on horror flicks cast gloom.
"Rate pain on a scale of one to ten,"
I beheld the wincing lady then...
Curly raven tresses..
Lenore, my guess is...
Or Annabelle Lee, or Madeline
The room darkened into tales of Poe.
The Pit and the Pendulum, such woe...
Debonair Vincent Price
Ready to slice and dice
More painful than the abyss below.
Had she known that all that exercise
Would lead to her ultimate demise!
Maniacal laughter
Reaching to the rafter,
A villainous soul to exorcise.
