When Lovers Part

From the Heart

When it comes to you

My heart has no defense

I'm sad my dear

But I won't let you see my tears

I would never put ropes on you

You were always meant to soar

When you're gone

I will try to be strong

But this heart of mine

Will love you throughout time

Your spirit

Caught my attention

I must let it be

Exactly like it wants to

FREE

My heart yearns for exactly that

You see

But there are chains that bind me

Things I cannot leave

Bittersweet

The taste

Your kiss

The only remedy

Your departure

I expected from the start

But the thought

Still breaks my heart

I know you must go

Could never ask you to stay

My only wish

Is for just a little longer

So hold me in your arms

Let's not speak of it dear

Pretend for a moment

That we will never part

Nothing else matters

But our two fragile hearts.

Your touch

I'll never forget

Tasting your lips

I'll never regret

To my lover

Don't you fret

I will forever reminisce on the day we met

love poems
