When Heart Beats Mind

an unconventional love poem

By Amelia MapstonePublished about a year ago 1 min read

Can you feel your heartbeat through the eyelashes?

Flum-thump, flum-thump, flum-thump

Each one whispers Fate into place with Passion.

Ba-dum, ba-dum, ba-dum

With One Touch, this feeling could be everlasting,

but cords are cut when you can't look

Love in the eye.

We all get lost in the desert of desire;

it's nothing to be ashamed of...

just wind whistling between our feet

(under the table or the sheets).

But the space of an unspoken word

just before a kiss

electrifies the soul.

The lukewarm water of my first affair cannot compare

to God's Fiery Love. Who watches me

when no one else sees me?

Who keeps me from tripping on acid rain?

Until now, I have taste-tested every kind of love but my own

and my God, is it good.

So come close, brother, sister, lover, friend!

Sip from the wellspring of Wellness

in my eyes' wide riverbend

before it's too late

before everything reincarnates

and we see not beginning or end.

How much I love you who are Love, but do not know it.
