Grief wears the colors of fallen leaves.

The leaves have lingered longer this year,
Too tired to fall, too stubborn with fear.
They hold on like memories etched in air,
Afraid that winter won’t even care.
The trees still weep with orange grace,
But even beauty hides a face.
For every leaf that clings with dread,
A whispered name the wind once said.
