What You Can't See

...Let yourself be free.

By Elizabeth WilliamsPublished 7 years ago 2 min read

We use our eyes everyday that we can agree

But in fact there are a lot of things that we can’t really see

Not seeing all these things can put us in a cage

So open up, take a look, and see what’s backstage

We can see the gorgeous oak that leans into the street

We can see all the birds as they wake and sing so sweet

We can see the wondrous breeze as it ruffles all the leaves

But what we can’t see are the things no one perceives

We can’t see the love that people hold inside

We can’t see all the emotions behind the eyes of the bride

We can’t see the tears when they don’t roll down her cheeks

Yet we can see all the rushing in the daring creeks

As the fish thrash throughout the crystal clear water

As the leaves shrivel and fall because it’s getting hotter

But we can’t see the beating hearts of the fish trying to swim upstream

We can’t see the storyline of our loved one’s dream

We can’t see the hope deep inside his heart

But we can see the sadness in his eyes when she breaks his heart

We can see the firing anger lit up in her eyes

We can see the morning sun when the new day brings sunrise

We can see the stars lit up high above

Yet we can’t see the pain behind free love

We can’t see the regret behind her happy eyes

We can’t see the truth when he tells all his lies

We can see the torture she goes through when she finds out

the truth

We can see the shock in his eyes when he loses his first

tooth

We can see happiness grow like a flower

We can see the steam from taking a relaxing shower

We can’t see why he stays in there so long

We can’t see that his work has hurt him all along

We can see his constant tired face

Maybe all he needs is a simple warm embrace

We can see the warmth in their loving hug

We can’t see all the damage from a constant drug

We can’t see their families’ history that comes from within

We can’t see the intention behind his deep grin

We can’t see the depth of someone’s heart

But we can see what they do when they fall apart

We cannot see what’s behind their covering masks

We cannot see the goals behind a question when they ask

We cannot see the beauty deep inside

Here is something I had to decide

We never take a chance to look at so many things

All we see is the outside and the crystals on the rings

We never look to find what was his real intension

But there is one thing I really do want to mention

Although no one sees the constant love that they all share

I see your love in every single stare

I see all the emotions behind the brides blue eyes

I can see the problem inside all of his lies

I can see the beauty past the outside shell

I can see the hurt behind her eyes when she yells

I can see all these things when I pay attention

But I only see these things because of my comprehension

So think about all the things that you can’t really see

And then, let me know if you finally feel free
