What was never

The sun sets, quiet on the horizon,

Casting long shadows across the earth.

A day that was never meant to be mine

Slips away like a secret never told.

I trace the edges of moments lost—

Conversations that faded before they began,

Smiles that lingered but never stayed.

The silence holds more than any words could.

In the distance, memories stir like old winds,

Chilled by the passing of time.

I reach for them, knowing they will dissolve

Like mist before the morning light.

There is no reclaiming what was never held,

Only watching as the sky dims

And the stars remain just out of reach.
