What Was First Love?
What was first love but a spark in the night,
A gentle awakening, a promise of light?
A glance from across the crowded school hall,
The way laughter danced, how it captured us all.
It whispered like secrets shared under the stars,
In the stillness of twilight, no distance too far.
Fingers brushing softly, a flutter of hearts,
Innocent and pure, like the dawn as it starts.
We spoke in sweet riddles, in codes only we knew,
The thrill of anticipation in everything we’d do.
Every moment together was a treasure to hold,
Stories exchanged that would never grow old.
But first love is fragile, like petals in spring,
With time it can fade, or take flight on new wings.
Yet, those memories linger, like the scent of a rose,
A bittersweet echo of how deep love can grow.
For though paths may part and our lives rearrange,
The essence of first love remains ever strange.
It teaches us tenderness, the beauty of trust,
A flame that ignites, then returns to the dust.
What was first love but a lesson so dear,
A chapter we cherish, though it might disappear.
For in every heartbeat, in each glance from above,
Lives the gentle reminder of what was first love.
