What Should Have Been
Treasure Lost

I miss your face
Around my place
You always made my day
Your smart retorts
And laughing snorts
In such a tomboy way
I still recall
That day last fall
You dropped in by surprise
You made a choice
Through cracking voice
A blow between my eyes
You came that day
To simply say
Your transfer means it ends
You broke the news
I’d missed the cues
You wanted more than “friends”
Upon my chest
Your head at rest
I thought about the cost
That final chance
To steal a glance
And mourn the jewel I lost
About the Creator
