What's To Like About Summertime?
Sonnets are meant for romance
By Natale FelixPublished 5 years ago • 1 min read

I used to hate the drawl of summertime;
Was never good at parties, then or now;
The condensation drinks, cucumber lime,
Mosquitos making rounds around the boughs.
And what's to like about the hurried crowds?
At music festivals, they jump and sway,
Nowhere to slip away; it's much too loud
To listen close to what I've got to say.
I certainly dislike this nasty heat,
Though rusty sunsets soften up my heart.
I'm trying to enjoy the berries sweet
And try to figure out just where to start.
I have to say - "to thine own self be true" -
I hated summertime, 'til I met you.
