What’s Summer Camp?

I never went to Summer Camp…Was someone meant to invite me? Did my parents get a notice and hope I wouldn’t see?

I never went to Summer Camp…Do they dance and play music around a fire every night? I once tried to burn down my tree house but I couldn’t get it a light.

I never went to Summer Camp…Will it change me for the better? My teachers often send my parents a private written letter.

I never went to Summer Camp…Where will I sleep? My own private room? What if the bed is too high? Or perhaps too low? What if its bunk beds? How will I know!!?

I never went to Summer Camp…Do they have lots of things to do?? Like riding horses, sailing boats, and a rollercoaster too?

I never went to Summer Camp…What if i get lost in the woods? Would they come to find me? Or would I have to scream, from a tall tree?

I never went to Summer Camp…A place without my parents or teachers to tell me what to do. Sounds like a dream, that’s too good to be true!

I never went to Summer Camp…Do they make you cook your own food? I don’t know how to make mum's cinnamon apple pie. It’s the only time we eat together, so I guess it’s worth a try.

I never went to Summer Camp…What if I get bored and theres no one to give me attention? That’s how I ended up here, writing poems in detention.

I never went to Summer Camp… Is it like a club for cool kids? Can you tell me! I insist!? I hope it's not the same as my school, where I simply don’t exist.

I never went to Summer Camp…I watched tv in my room and fantasized about love instead. Would my parents even notice if I was actually just dead!?

I never went to Summer Camp…But once knew a boy who did. He said all the boys paired with off with a girl, to have their very first kiss! And if that’s true, I’ll gladly give it a miss!

I never went to Summer Camp…Do they have delicious food to make you stay? I wonder if they let you eat chocolate marshmallows every day !?

I never went to Summer Camp…I listened to dads old records and did chores for pocket money. I threw water balloons at passers-by but only when it was sunny.

I never went to Summer Camp…But I heard stories from my Sister. She never went to detail but I’m sure she had lots of fun. I never went to Summer Camp…I have no idea how to go. Maybe I enter a contest, and it's a prize that can be won.
