What's a Lie Worth?

Telling a little white lie, it doesn’t hurt, it’s to spare a person’s feelings in one way or another. It’s in the back of your mind within a matter of seconds, it falls into the pits of nothingness and poof… it’s gone forever. Generally speaking, that is how it works. What if it isn’t a white lie? Where does the guilt go, who takes the fall, who draws the short straw, who is held against their will?

A heavy lie can reshape your future in such a dramatic way, you’ll never realise it until its happened. You will never understand or fully appreciate how a lie can start a war. You just somehow have to be ready for the battle and pray you can mend after the reckoning.

A lie can also form a personality, it can be the make or break of your tomorrow. The second a lie is spoken; it turns the truth into a secret. The truth can never come out in its purest form, due to the contamination of falsehood. Even when we know of the consequences, why do we lie? What are we truly saving ourselves from? We know the roots are rotten as soon as we water the seed. Yet, we still intend to eat the sour fruit. What is a lie worth?
