What makes me unique

A poem not only about color

Staring In the mirror yet again trying to find out what makes me unique.

But I can’t tell you something that was never

disclosed to me

but let me

try.

As the bathroom light reflects upon

my dark chocolate skin

Now I finally can see

what it is

that makes me

unique from

within.

Is it the fact that I’m a twin ?

Or that

my skin is sun kissed that caused me to

be dark skinned?

In which scientists call it

Melanin?

Or is it my big round lips?

Something when you look at me

you can’t

miss?

Or maybe it’s my unusual shaped nose.

In result that cause’s me to smell

my momma’s cookin

before I walk through

the door?

Or it could be my big brown eyes.

That has a glare of content

when I arise.

What makes me unique?... I can’t tell

You something that was never

disclosed to me

but let me continue

to try.

But what if it’s my nappy hair .

Because everywhere I go those

Who see me point

and stare.

Or is it my amazingly strong voice.

That when I speak my voice sounds

similar to a Lions

Roar

OR

It could be when people talk, I listen

rather than ignore.

OR

Is it the fact that I pick up trash that

I didnt place in the first place from up

off the floor.

Or maybe it’s the fact that my mind is at

peace and no longer mentally am I

at war.

So truly I don’t know what makes me

unique because those things

were never

disclosed me.
