What is man - Here Today, Gone Tomorrow?

Today, man lives in pleasure, wealth and pride.

Tomorrow, poor or life itself denied.

Today, man lives in houses built to his tastes.

Tomorrow, in a shallow grave he is laid.

Today, man eats feasts prepared by his choicest cooks.

Tomorrow, he himself a feast to warm.

Today, man adorns himself with fabrics well designed.

Tomorrow, naked he returns to dust.

Today, man gathers precious stones and possessions.

Tomorrow, he can’t lay his finger on nothing.

Today, man parties, celebrating and mourning with others in their times.

Tomorrow, at his funeral he is laid.

Today, man distinguishes himself from others by wealth and class.

Tomorrow, six feet below we all go.

After all this, what is man?
