What if you stayed

What if you stayed
Whole
Instead of becoming
Broken
Pieces of you lost
To the dark corners you don’t see
Part of your roots
Cut off at the seam
To time
Becoming fickle
What’s in a memory?
Lost to your mind
Fragments
Unwind
Your heart doesn’t beat
the same
It was stitched back
Together
With your own pain
So it forgot
My name
But what if you
Had stayed?

love how you finish off with a question... it leaves the reader with some good food for thought... great job.
This was so deep, poignant and beautifully written. Loved your poem!
5 daughters. A handful of delight. Lovely poem, great question, but i guess we will never know.
