'what if'

where did my baby go‽

By ⸘jason alan‽Published 2 years ago Updated 2 years ago 1 min read

withe the lights down low‽

easier to pretend we don't know

what we can't see happening, but

seeing isn't the only way to believe

lighting the fire of candle flickers, but

keep the seat warm for me even if

i'm not coming home tonight, but

there's more than one way, so

the easiest way to complicate it is:

so bad guilt can't make it worse, but

because the night belongs to us

every road goes one way, but

sitting in the wrong seat to drive

if you hit the brakes you buy it

adapted to the nocturn, but

addicted to the thrill of 'what if'

my baby talks to ghosts, but

money spends the same in hell

well-trained in the art of cliche, but

force of a rhyme and ascetic principle

the direction of intrepid rebellion, but

can't be that lost with nowhere to go but up

i never know the right thing to say, but

i say everything i can even if i don't know

that's what a silver lining is, but

friendlier, learning to love the distance

i meant your other left, but

i don't have a name for this yet

where did my baby go‽
