What I Can Never Say

A Poem

By Christine WilsonPublished 7 years ago 1 min read

A heartbeat never to be heard,

Eyes that will never open,

I find myself walking through a dark night,

Trying hear you call out for me

A smile that will never show,

A voice I will never get to know,

Yet here I am waiting by a stone,

Praying to someone to let you come home,

A half that may never be whole,

A heart that will never fully grow,

I reach on out to the dreams I had for you,

Only to grasp a shadow,

Sorrow comes in the shape of you,

The kind of heartbreak I wish I never knew,

Just a stone and name,

A hand engraved,

I reach out for you.
