What could it be?

I wonder.

By Olivia ElemancoPublished 3 years ago 1 min read

I hear a knock on my door,

Who could it be? I wonder.

My eyes saw no one outside,

but my feelings felt something had entered.

It was a stranger yet familiar.

What could it be? I wonder.

Perhaps it’s that sudden rush in my blood flow

every time I turn on my stereo.

With the spectrum of sounds coming from rock music,

the dullness I feel transforms into something euphoric.

The gates are open, and all rage and mayhem go lose.

The strong punches of drums that mark my heart with a bruise,

the screaming vocals piercing like spears of weaponry,

and the growls of the electric guitar pouring heavily -

they all play in harmony with my thoughts running wild

and bring peace to the chaotic battles that I try to hide.

Perhaps it could also be that splurge of ecstasy

every time I am called by the sea.

If I’m seeking fun, then the sea offers a perfect rhyme

as it always gives me a whale of a time.

And if the burdens I carry have become too heavy to bear,

the deep blue waters will let my heavy heart sink in despair.

With the cold sea water warmly embracing my whole body,

I am greeted with adorable creatures swimming swiftly.

The glistening waves crashing on the shore

is both a spectacle and an indulgence that I will forever adore.

What could it be? I wonder.

Whether it’s the sea or music is mine to tell.

Yours could be the same or could be something else.

Whatever it may be, let it enter.

Let it unlock your shackles

so you can be free and alive once again.
