What Are You Living For

Life is pricey, that’s no lie

Four walls, roof, food and clothes

Yeah, it all does cost;

And that’s skipping on the fun.

Soon we’ll have to pay

Just to breathe in the air.

And I know –

Money’s short,

Work is long,

Debts still grow

And you want it all paid off.

But tell me, babe –

What’re you living for?

Monday reports?

Monthly income?

Taxes, papers,

Finding side jobs that are legal?

Microwaved lunch

Hot on a plate

Cold from inside?

Wow, so fun.

But if the money was gone

Would you be alone?

Would you have a life

Or a lot of skills

With nowhere to go?

Would you have a purpose?

Would you have a home

Not for the body

But for your precious soul?
