what are girls for?
an abecedarian love poem | Inspired by "Woman Of The Hour" #1
"what are girls for?" "...that's up to the girl." -Cheryl Bradshaw (Anna Kendrick) & Rodney Alcala (Daniel Zovatto) | Woman of the Hour
afternoons she convinced you to play hooky; "work will always be there, but these kinds of moments won't,"
busting your balls when no one else will,
cuddling in the diner booth under the neon light,
dancing in the rain only to get sick together; you'll both say never again only to run out when it starts to sprinkle,
elegant date nights where you ditched the fancy restaurant to eat at Wendy's dressed to the nines,
food network binging and salivating over delicious looking foods,
grabbing your attention without meaning to,
holding your heart in her hand,
inspiration,
just happily existing,
kisses, tenderly placed on forehead in the quiet moments where there is nothing to be said,
late nights, staring up at the star-speckled ceiling of the earth, asking questions with no real answer,
memorializing seconds in the scrapbook of your mind,
naked truths exposed only to each other,
obscure references that no one else will get but her,
paper rings collecting in a jar on top of the dresser,
quietly observing,
realizing you are the lucky one,
stuttering at because even smart men lose their ability sometimes to string together coherent sentences,
taking on the world as you stand beside her,
uniquely changing your life,
venturing out into the great unknown, maybe not like Elsa, but still,
waking up to her sleeping and taking her in at her most peaceful,
xoxo-s at any point in the day,
you, at least one in particular, because she chose to be the one for you, and
zooming down the back road, music blaring, and you put your hand in hers, hoping you'll never have to let go.
Now I hope you know you don't define what she's for,
she does.

This was extremely powerful! Loved your poem so much!
Excellent, love the Elsa reference (definitely started humming, lol). These are all amazing assets of a girl, but I really love the last part. ♥︎
Great job 👏 keep it up 😊
