Went And Took It

Recalling the best night of my life

By Mark Wesley Pritchard Published about a year ago 3 min read

November 1: championship or bust,

The Texas Rangers were on a mission.

Winning it all was a huge must,

Giving up was never part of their vision.

They had one final task to complete,

Easier said than done.

But when the D-Backs taste defeat,

The Rangers will bring a title back to Arlington.

Serpientes, the Rangers are on fire,

They are a true underdog story.

As the Rangers think of Creed's song "Higher",

They'll come up victorious and achieve ultimate glory.

I was on my feet and my heart racing,

Nathan Eovaldi, get us out of this crazy jam.

My heart was still racing and also pacing,

Thank the heavens above he didn’t give up a grand slam.

The ninth inning starts and Sborz is on the mound,

Let's get this done, for goodness sake.

My heart still races and also pounds,

I was thinking to myself, "Not another heartbreak".

My body started shaking and was a nervous wreck,

I said, "Sborz, don't you dare give up on that arm."

I reminded myself to keep myself in check,

Hopefully the third time will be the charm.

One more out is all they need,

The World Series title was within reach looking ahead

"Come on, Rangers. Let's get that final out," I said,

The anticipation was killing me.

A million thoughts were playing in my head,

This was a moment that Rangers fans were aiming to see.

The game was over as the Rangers were filled with glee,

I witnessed this moment right in front of my eyes.

I dropped to my knees; couldn't believe this was a dream,

It was at the moment when I cried happy tears.

I said to myself, "God, I love my team".

I've waited for this moment for over 20 years.

You couldn't call them disappointments or rebuilders anymore,

Not even for a quick second.

They were World Champions, that's for sure.

A message to the Astros: the Rangers run Texas.

The Rangers were World Series Champions, and the wait was worth it,

The excited looks on their faces really showed.

These brave men deserve a lot of credit

Seager throws shade at Bregman by quoting, "I guess we'll never know."

They won it for Young, Kinsler, Hamilton, and Beltre.

This title was for them.

There is one important thing that I got to say,

They won it all. Yes, ma'am!

Bochy won another title to add to his resume,

He's forever a legend and that's the truth.

The Rangers and their fans never lost faith,

Winning the World Series title to them was a dream come true.

The Rangers were no longer zeroes,

They brought their courageous fever.

They were officially baseball heroes,

But we owe it all to only one: Corey Seager.

"So long heartbreak", as Joe Davis once said,

That joyous quote made my night.

As my pillow was positioned on my head,

I'll remember November 1 as the best night of my life.

Remember the names: Seager, García, and Eovaldi

They've put on a big show.

They're forever part of baseball history,

And now you know.

They were World Series Champs to the core,

The Rangers were free to boast and flaunt it.

In case I haven't told you before,

I have these five words for you:

They Went And Took It!
