Weird In The Dark
A Poem

Outside, in the dark of night, I wait for you.
The warm air blows, flowing through my pink sweater, messing up my hair.
I realize I jumped the gun when you texted for the code, laughing to myself.
I stand on the sidewalk, arms raised and legs out like a starfish.
I begin dancing under the light by the pool, music playing in my head.
Soon enough, the gates open, and your gray car drives up next to me.
You step out, pulling me into your tight embrace, soothing my soul.
We begin chatting, laughing, and acting silly.
And there is nowhere else I would be.
