We Thought We'd Watch You Grow Old!
Poetic Tribute to Titus The African Grey Parrot

Gone you are but not forgotten
Even after your body's rotten
Gone you are but not forgotten
*
Your memory remains deep within
Where were we made a place to let you in
Your memory remains deep within
*
Your quirky little quirks and traits
One-half phone calls and silly berates
Your quirky little quirks and traits
*
You brought us so much joy and laughter
We will remember that now, forever and after
You brought us so much joy and laughter
*
We thought we'd watch you grow old
To hear you whistle, laugh and scold
We thought we'd watch you grow old
*
Sorry your life too soon was cut
And that your beak will remain shut
Sorry your life too soon was cut
*

Thank you for reading this poem inspired by our African Grey Parrot named Titus. He recently passed away, long before he was supposed to.
I hope you enjoyed this little tribute to him/her (we never were very sure). He was a funny, charming and noisy bird. Used to do one side of a phone call, including all the noises for the phone too and a whole plethora of noises!
