We should build monuments to mothers
An anti-war poem

We should build monuments to mothers, bearers of the sacrifice of war and whose loss is neglected; while statues celebrating the victory from their sons' deaths are erected.
We should build monuments to mothers, the ones who carry on without a husband or son, the ones whose sacrifice is never really done.
We should build monuments to mothers, statues of soldiers planting flags fill us with feelings of glory when statues of women weeping would tell the true story.
We should build monuments to mothers. Every enemy is still his mother’s baby, and if we remember that we can end war, just maybe.
