We Queer

I’m young, I’m queer, I’m here, I’m woke.

Give a round of applause to the young folk

Raising the dreams and backing their hopes.

We live in the world where we are just gone.

But I am here, I am queer and I am woke.

They say a fashionable mind is dope,

I couldn’t have seen that coming, but lets us hope.

Hope that their dreams and believes can exist in this oppressive world,

Down, down, down in a losers hat,

We are not magicians and we cannot pull a rabbit out of a hat.

We are young, we are queer, we are here and we are woke.

Awoke to the blinding judgments that fill our peers,

Refusing to believe that the world belongs to us now.

Now, now is the time to be awake,

Open our eyes to the possibilities of living in a world,

The world that don’t judge, but questions, reasons, and understand,

That we are here, we are queer and we are woke.

I would like to invoke,

That this prayer is not just hope,

We live in a world where we can still hope,

Hope that we are heard,

Our voices not muffled by a stipend end.

But this is not the end,

We are not done, we still need to fend.

Fend off all those who don’t believe,

That we are young, we are queer, we are here and we are woke.
